Brownfields Project:
Brownfield Cleanup Program Goal
Brownfields are abandoned, idled, or underused properties where the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. Examples include former gas stations, dry cleaners, factories, warehouses, and other industrial or commercial sites.
The goal of the Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) is to encourage private-sector cleanups of brownfields and to promote their redevelopment as a means to revitalize economically blighted communities. The BCP is an alternative to greenfield development and is intended to remove some of the barriers to, and provide tax incentives for, the redevelopment of urban brownfields.

Micron Wetland Mitigation:
Why Are Wetlands Valuable?
Wetlands are known by many names, such as marshes, swamps, bogs, and wet meadows. Wetlands are transition areas between uplands and aquatic habitats. Standing water is only one clue that a wetland may be present. Many wetlands only have visible water during certain seasons of the year. For many years, people did not recognize the many diverse benefits and values of wetlands. Consequently, New York has lost almost half of its historic wetlands to such activities as filling and draining. However, wetlands are valuable to the people and environment of New York State.
The first public meeting was on September 23, 2025 and we had a good turnout. The presentation is provided below.

Local Waterfront Revitalization Program:
A Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) is the State’s primary program for working in partnership with waterfront communities across New York State. It is a locally prepared, comprehensive land and water use plan for a community's designated inland waterway. It often includes a Harbor Management Plan (HMP) to help manage water-dependent activities. It is authorized by the New York State Coastal Management Program and reflects a shared community vision shaped by public input. Read the flyers below for more info.

Support Schroeppel 2025 !:
As the holiday season arrives, the desire to give generously amplifies. This year, the Town of Schroeppel is sponsoring two promotional weeks designed to highlight the options our residents have within our own town to fulfill this desire. This is a chance for local businesses to exhibit what makes them unique in the community, while also keeping money circulating within our local economy. By encouraging more local engagement, we hope to strengthen the bonds of our already-supportive community networks. We hope both of these promotional weeks would highlight the unique value that our businesses offer year-round, ultimately generating repeat customer retention.
#SavorSchroeppel is a 14-day promotion that aims to celebrate our local food scene. This ...
